Bassenthwaite Parish Council

Welcome to the Bassenthwaite Parish Council website.

The Parish Council represents the views of residents of the Parish to local, regional and national organisations on a range of views and topics. Parish Councils are consulted on planning applications and have an opportunity to submit comments on any planning application within the Parish Boundary.

Parish Councils are the lowest tier of elected government, and is the closest tier to the community. In Cumbria above Bassenthwaite Parish Council is now the Unitary Authority of Cumberland.

Parish Councils are close to the community and are often one of the first places will turn to if they have any issues or ideas.

The number of councillors who sit on a Parish Council varies with the size of the Parish, Bassenthwaite Parish Council has nine. The work of a Parish Councillor is entirely voluntary.
